In London it causes more than 10,500 deaths a week, i.e. more than 200 a week or more than 1 in 6 of all deaths.
Per year, in London it is also the also the cause of 46,000 hospital admissions, costs NHS London £105 million. It is also the cause of 1.7 million GP consultations and more than 110,000 people have lost all their teeth through smoking.
In Enfield alone, smoking is the cause of 1,730 hospital admissions and 390 deaths a year.

For those people quitting at the Specialist Smokers' Clinic, Nicotine Replacement Therapy is free if you are exempt from paying prescriptions charges. Otherwise there is a small one-off payment of £7.20.
